Shadowed Consumption 2D is a platformer game that my talented partner and I will present at the University of Maryland’s Spring 2025 IMD showcase as our capstone project.
Shadowed Consumption is a single player game where the topic is on consumerism/over-consumption. The game starts with a character who goes to various shopping places. The game follows a storyline where the character is influences by firneds and a overlooming shadow to obtain popular items. After the item they want is introduced, each shopping location transforms into a platform game where the player must jump/move through platforms to get the item. The player is constantly feeling like they have to get more and more things to fit in and ultimately increase their happiness. However, the world around them slowly becomes affected by their choices and they do not see the affect it has on their own mental health.
